    I'm panicking since the morning.

Last 2 says I had problems with Windows spotlight, and then with lockr screen all together. II tried all different ways to fix it (even posped about it here) but didn't work. Figure'd Id do a reset since it's a new laptop and I don't care if I lost my files as long as everything is ok. And it was an easy way too since I'm short on time.

I did a reset with clean wipe of drives, it got stuck at 35% so left it overnight and slept, hours laters Cortana woke me up. I did the initial configuration of email and wifi and such.

Later, it asked me if I want to wipe TMP so I pressed F12. I logged in, all seemed fine but I can't access startup, cortana, right click takes like 6 mins to display, I can't even open settings I can only open folders. Settings from folders don't open.

What do I do? I'm can't take this anymore I need to fix it somehow so please help me... I got final exams too and this is getting frustrating please help.

    :)

    Unable to open Settings

    Hi,

Upon analyzing the issue, we need to check first if the
partition is still available. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Open
      Command Prompt
      as
      Administrator.

    • Type
      these following
      commands:

      • Diskpart

      • List disk

      • Sel disk 0

      • List partition

    Check if the
    partition
    is still
    available. If it is, type
    exit
    to
    leave Diskpart
    and
    run
    these following
    commands:

    Disk Checker:

    To run
    Disk Checker, type
    chkdsk /f /r and hit
    Enter.

    SFC Scan:

    To run an
    SFC scan, follow these steps:

    • Run
      Command Prompt as Administrator.

    • Type
      sfc /scannow
      and hit
      Enter.

    DISM Tool:

    To run
    DISM Tool, follow these steps:

    • Run
      Command Prompt as Administrator.

    • Type the following command:

      • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /scanhealth

      • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    NOTE:
This might take a while to finish scanning.
    Do not cancel.

If the issue persists, we suggest that you contact your manufacturer
for further assistance in resetting your BIOS.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards.

    disk cleanup out of order?

If Edge is open, there will be a lot of locked files.

To delete files in the Temporary Internet Files folder (or cache) in Microsoft Edge, follow the steps below:

    • Open your Microsoft Edge browser.
    • Click on the More Actions menu with three dots, then select Settings.
    • Below Clear Browsing Data, click Choose what to clear.
    • Select the data that you want to delete.
    • Click Clear.

Also, as an alternative to Disk Cleanup, try the command line version, as Admin:

    %SystemRoot%\System32\Cmd.exe /c Cleanmgr /sageset:65535 & Cleanmgr /sagerun:65535

How to factory reset Cisco 1700 Router

Hopefully I can help you here....its a very common thing to happen.

First, I take it you dont know the passwords for console access or telnet/ssh?

I will assume that these devices belong to you.

step 1. Plug a cisco console cable into a serial port on your pc
step 2. Plug other end into Cisco console port
step 3. Using hyperterm or putty or similar connect to the serial port
step 4. boot router, and make sure you clearly can see the output (this confirms you have good serial comms)
step 5. if this fails, adjust the comm port settings (9600, 8,1,n are the default)
step 6. now you have to do the only hard part...send the break command:

    Break command list: Break Commands

Go down the list and match your OS and SW and try the sequence suggested.

If this fails several times do what I do: Install putty (free) and then to send a break so you can get into rommom just hit "ctrl-a b".
