Windows 10: Face camera never turns on to log in; always forced to use pin

I just recently purchased my Windows Book 2 laptop and I noticed that my laptop does not do face recognition after the day I had set it up in the Windows store I purchased it from. I've been meaning to take it to that store to have someone check it out but it's quite far away and I do not have the time. I've tried the diagnostics tool, but that didn't find anything wrong with the software. I've taken my Book 2 through multiple updates and that never fixed the problem. It's a minor issue but it's annoying because my laptop spends time searching for my face and then takes me straight to put in my pin. When I was first setting it up, a team member was walking me through it, so I know that I had already set up face recognition- I just do not know why it stopped working all of a sudden.


If anyone can help me out I'd greatly appreciate it.

Windows Hello - Facial Recognition will not allow me to change the user before it turns the camera on

Sorry, but you're still missing the point -

Step 1 - other user uses PC then logs off and turns computer off.

Step 2 - I turn PC on

Step 3 - the camera turns on automatically, but looking for the face of THE LAST USER LOGGED IN. At this point NO I DO NOT have the option to select a different user.

Step 4 - the camera sees MY face but is searching for HIS face

Step 5 - camera says it can't find HIM and asks me to login with HIS PIN or password

Step 6 - Only THEN do I get the option to change user.

Shouldn't the camera wait until AFTER a user has been selected? OR - what would be a MUCH better option - recognize the face it sees and select the appropriate user accordingly?

If Windows Hello is unlikely to accomodate EITHER option then it will become (for at least one of our 4 PCs) just another piece of redundant Microsoft software.

 

Camera face recognition was working but has stopped.

I have a new Dell laptop. Camera face recognition was working but has stopped. It says it is 'turning the camera on', but it never comes on. I have to end up using my PIN to log into the computer. Does anyone know how to fix this?

 

My "hello camera" won't turn on so the signing on by face recognition doesn't work. It just sits on "turning on camera" forever.

in step four I get the same "turning on camera" message , but the camera does not turn on.

The camera app does work though. it turns on the camera and takes photos and video.

This was working fine since I got the surface book. just stopped working an will not turn on the camera to retrain hello's face recognition.
