Missing selection of playback and recording devices after October 2018 update in speaker...

After the October update, the ability to easily select and change parameters of audio devices has been removed down several layers and mouse clicks. This is not friendly and the ability to right click the speaker icon and go directly to playback or recording devices should be reinstated.

Furthermore any programme that uses the QT programming framework seems to be unable to select other than the default audio device - a major bug.

So how do I reinstate the previous ability to select directly from the speaker icon the devices?

    :)

  2. Headphones and Speakers not showing up in playback devices

    Hi Jonathan,

To help us identify the cause of the issue and then find the proper resolution for it, please tell us if you made any significant hardware or software changes on your laptop prior to this issue. Also, can you provide us the steps you have already taken to
try to resolve the issue? In the meantime, follow these steps on how you can enable your playback devices:

    • Right-click on the speaker icon on the taskbar and select Sounds.
    • Under the Playback tab, right-click on the default speakers and select
Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices. Your headphones or speakers should now appear here.
    • Right-click the headphones or speakers and select Enable.

Keep us updated with the results.

  3. Frequent switching of playback and recording devices

Windows 10 user for a bit and have been seeing this as an 'issue' for quite a few versions of Windows.

I have x3 recording and x2-3 playback devices installed.

    Recording

    • Logitech Webcam (USB)
    • Plantronics Headset (USB)
    • Blue Yeti Pro (USB)
    Playback

    • Bose Speakers (Speaker port on Dell touchscreen)
    • Plantronics Headset (USB)
    • Earbuds (headphones port - not always plugged in)
Most are hardwired and one has a Bluetooth connection capability (Plantronics). I find myself often switching from one device to another, depending on the situation - recording, listening to music, taking a phone call, etc.

The current switching process is a bit cumbersome - right click the speaker in the taskbar, select playback or recording device and then picking whichever device. I find myself going thru this process x2-5 a day given whatever I am doing

It would seem to me that an app or icon / button selector would be ideal. Anyone aware of an app or device that might accommodate my need?

No sound & speakers missing in Playback Devices

I have no sound on my new Windows 10 PC.
    Things I've tried:
    1) Uninstalled and reinstalled sound drivers with multiple restarts
    2) Checked power is connected
    3) Checked speakers are connected via the green jack
There's another fix I was trying in the Playback Devices window but when I look there, my speakers aren't even displayed.
