Windows 10: 08-18-23 Windows update WIPED my pc? Since when?

Wow. I've done updates since Windows XP but never seen this happen. 08-18-23 Windows update WIPES my desktop, logged me out of all my browsers, deleted my history, passwords, etc. ????I went and found all my old desktop files under the users folder which I am now backing up, but all my web preferences are all lost / reset to boot.Nice.

Tech magazine PC Inpact claims to have the exact Windows release dates, so it is my duty to tell them to you like they are. If this source is correct, we will be seeing Windows Vista SP1 by February 18, and the streamlined Windows XP SP3 by March 23.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

From the description provided, I understand that the Windows 10 is unable to download the latest updates for November.

Kindly follow the below suggested steps and see if it helps to resolve the issue with the failed updates and then try again to check.

A. Check whether the Windows date and Time set to Automatic and synced.

B. Disconnect all the peripheral devices except for the mouse and keyboard.

C. Update all your computer's drivers from manufacturer’s website.

D. Follow these steps to run the Windows inbuilt troubleshooter:

• Write Troubleshooting in the search box and hit enter.

• Click on Troubleshooting tab.
  

• Click on view all option on the upper left corner.
  

• Select the Windows Update option from the list.
  

• Click Next to run the Troubleshooter.
