Windows 10: 0x80070017 updating Windows

Keep getting this error when trying to update Windows 0x80070017. I tried multiple days to update my system maybe there is changes but none. Appreciate any help.

Disk Issues/ Error 0x80070017

What is the exact error code that you receive? Is it 0x80070017 or 0x80070012?

This issue may occur if there is a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) failure during the update process. This failure may occur if the received file is not the file that is expected by Windows Update

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it help:

Method 1:

I suggest you to run the Chkdsk.exe tool to check the disk for errors. Follow the steps below for the same:

• 
  Press Windows key+ R
  
• 
  Type chkdsk C: press Enter
  

Method 2:

You may also rename the Windows Update components folder and verify the result.

a) Press "Windows key + X" and click "Command Prompt (Admin)".

b) Type "net stop wuauserv" and press enter.

c) Type "rename c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old" and press enter.

d) Type "net start wuauserv"and press enter.

The error 0x80070017 translates to "Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC)Error" which means that the files that are being copied from the disk are not making it to the hard drive
with the same structure, meaning that the original files on the disk are being modified/changed/corrupted while being copied to the destination location on your hard drive during the install.

For us to better help you, confirm which build is currently installed on your device. To check, follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + R, then type in winver.
• Click OK.

Meanwhile, let's troubleshoot the issue by performing the steps below:

Method 1: Run the Windows built-in troubleshooter

This troubleshooter automatically diagnose and repair common problems with Windows Update.

1. Click on Start, then search for Control Panel and click on it.

2. On the Control Panel window, search for Troubleshooting

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
