Windows 10: 0x8007643

When I install the KB5034441 update on Windows 10, it ends with error 0x80070643. I have the WinRE partition set to 512 MB

Error 0x80070643 Windows 10 defender fails to update KB2267602 (Definition 1.203.1711.0)

I tried to update windows 10 pro 64 bit and received the defender failure code 0x8007643 as you did, tried all the dism forum suggestions etc... so I opened the defender application and selected update and it installed the update.

I then ran the actual windows update application and it said my system was up to date.

 

Can’t install Windows Update

I tried to update it but then it said: “There were some problems installing updates, but we’ll try again later. Id you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help:

(0x8007643)” I want to update my computer because it is very slow.

 

KB5034122 Windows 10 Cumulative Update Build 19044.3930 and 19045.3930  

We have 6 windows 10 laptops in the house. The only 2 this installs on are the two laptops that do not qualify for Windows 11. The cynic in me does wonder if this if this is relevant. I get the same initial "download error" 0x80070643 with a retry option showing. On subsequent attempts to install (after a reboot) it stays stuck on installing 0% (within Windows Update app, that is) then springs error 0x80070643 again. SFC all clean before & after. Seems very widspread. MS can't expect the average user to muck about with recovery partitions (& this doesn't even specify this a s a solution for error code 0x8007643, that I could see anyway). Plus on reading around the web it seems that increasing partition sizes hasn't helped many.
