I get this message and don't know how to solve it.

 

Can't install Visual C++ error 0x800b0003

I reinstalled a fresh copy of windows 10 because I already had this same problem before. I always install all the Visual C++ runtimes, x64 and x86 versions without problem, but after a while, the problem appears. A soft crashes at launch because of missing msvcr*.dll, and when I try to repair the Visual C++ runtime, I get this. I uninstalled without problem the 2012 version, but when I want to reinstall, I get 0b800b0003 error.

It looks like another software that installs VC++ automatically (typically Steam games for example) corrupt something.

In the log I see this:

Error 0x800b0003: Failed to verify signature of payload: vcRuntimeMinimum_x64

and a little down the log:

Error 0x800b0003: Failed to get signer chain from authenticode certificate.
Error 0x800b0003: Failed authenticode verification of payload: C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\.unverified\vcRuntimeMinimum_x64

So something seems to corrupt/delete some essential digital key signature of some sort. This is a real pain, as this problem has been present for YEARS now. I never mess with Visual C++ runtimes once installed, I let other software install their needed version and that's it, but this problem always appears after some time.

You could think after this long, such problem would have been addressed, but no... Windows is such a pain!
