Windows 10: 0x800F0922 error when trying to use or reinstall Microsoft PDF Printer

Just sharing this solution in case it happens to anyone else.

I tried applying the suggested solutions from the post on the same subject from 2017, but none worked.

Whenever I tried to install the windows feature Microsoft PDF printer, the progress bar went to about 95%, before the error code was thrown with a description along the lines of "could not complete the installation".

What resolved in the end was to stop the print spooler service.

When the spooler was stopped, the windows feature Microsoft PDF Printer installation finalized without throwing the error.


How to stop the spooler:

From command prompt with elevated permissions, type; net stop spooler (and to start it again; net start spooler)

Windows 10 PDF Printer

I've tried all the proposed solutions listed here but still cannot restore the PDF printer that comes with Windows 10. I get a "unable to install printer, the handle is invalid " message when I try to reinstall. I get an error code 0x800F0922 when I try
to reinstall from Program and Features.

Anything else, short of complete reinstallation of Windows 10 that I can try? Thanks.
