Windows 10: 0x80242016 while upgrading to W10 20H2

Hi,


I've been getting differents errors while trying to apply the last update for W10, being error code 0x80242016 the last one.


I went through all the other solutions you provided for other customers, but none of them worked.

I also tried to use the offline upgrading tool, bot it didn't work.


My OS info is:


Windows 10 PRO / Version 1909 / OS compile version: 18363.1500.

Windows 10 Feature Update 20H2 consistently fails with 0x80242016

I am using Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Version 1809 and trying to update to Version 20H2.

I keep getting 0x80242016 error.

I was in previous version I got 0x80242016 error when trying to upgrade and so after extensive research tried

Windows 10 Installation Media:

1. Insert the Media (DVD/USB) in your PC and restart.
   
2. Boot from the media.
   
3. Select Repair Your Computer.

Select Troubleshoot.

1. Choose Command Prompt from the menu:

Type in the command:
Diskpart
Type in the command:
List disk (Note which disk is your Boot drive number mine is 0)
Type in the command:
Sel disk 0
Type in the command:
List vol (Note which volume is the EFI partition mine is 4)
Type in the command:
Sel vol 4
Type in the command:
assign letter=V:
Type in the command:
Exit
Type in the command:
V:
After you have assigned a drive letter Using Diskpart You can format the EFI partition:
Example: if you assigned a letter V to the partition the command would be:
format V: /FS:FAT32
Type in the command:
bcdboot C:\windows /s V: /f UEFI

This did not work so I wiped hard drive and reinstalled Windows 10.



Now I have an issue that I cannot install Feature Updates. They keep failing to install with 0x80242016 error.
Any ideas how to resolve issue?

I have installed windows 10 1903 by clean way and tried update operating system, but after all windows updates i have checked the update list and seen that pic



but it turned out already have installed that update in "installed updates"



So the main question is "do i need reinstall that update or it installed correct and everything is okay?"

You misunderstood me. Issue happened when Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Version 1809 was released and after getting 0x80242016 error I did what I stated in previous message. This did not work and I had to wipe drive and reinstall Windows 10 from start to current version at time of Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Version 1809.

I now have a laptop with Windows 10 Pro Version 1809 and whenever I try to upgrade to Windows 10 20H2 consistently get 0x80242016 error.
