Windows 10: 0x803f7001 Virtualbox Ubuntu host and Windows 10 guest

Hi, I bought my laptop with Win10 pre-installed but then I decided to remove it to install Ubuntu and then have my windows 10 running from a virtual machine (Virtualbox). Before removing original pre-installed W10, I downloaded the ISO file.

After intalling ubuntu, I installed my Win10 in Virtualbox using the ISO file that I had. All good at that time. I was able to activate it using my digital license. However all of sudden, one day I saw my Win10 license was no longer active. Since then i could not activate anymore. In my windows account I have my license but I cannot activate. Please help!. Win 10 as guest in virtualbox (with LinuxMint as host)

I run both 8.1 and 10 in VMware Player from an external eSata attached SSD. Performance is nearly the same as my host W7 on an internal SSD. Something must be wrong with your setup. This is my set up
1. Ubuntu 14.01 (host) Win 7 & Win 10 (guest) works well even with harddrive (VMPlayer)
2. Linuxmint (host) with Win 7 & Win 10 (guest) works slow with SSD (Virtualbox). Still have problem installing VMplayer. Still trying.
I need to run Window mainly for 2 software need. 1st is Acrobat Professional and the Browser for US Netflix . The new Ubuntu/Chrome can view Netflix now. So I have only occasional need to use Acrobat Pro. That is about it

Win 10 as guest in virtualbox (with LinuxMint as host)


Just set up vmplayer under a new partition of 14.04 LTS Ubuntu (host) and Win 10 (guest). Working fine now.
Not much luck with Linuxmint 17.1 though. Running Win 10 as guest in Virtualbox seems to be slow even with SSD.

Moving a Windows 10 virtualbox guest pc to a new host. Any issues?

I have a virtualbox pc running Windows 10 Home (upgraded from Windows 7 Home Premium, which was installed with a full retail key). I need to move this guest to a new host. I've done this before with Win7 guests, although sometimes I've had to do the
telephone re-authentication. Are there any issues with doing this with Windows 10?

(And no, I'm not trying to run 2 copies of this guest. I'll be doing a full shutdown of the guest, and virtualbox. I'll copy the files to the new host and remove them from the old host after the migration is successful.)
