Windows 10: 0xc0000005 & unable to complete clean install

Hello everyone! I hope you can help because I'm truly at wits end. To give a bit of insight of how I got here, a few weeks ago when I downloaded the new Assassin's Creed and the new NVIDIA driver my PC started having crashes on all programmes with the exception code 0xc0000005 as well as having Status_Access_Violation while using chrome, these are the issues that persist until now. Originally I thought it was due to some file corruption as sfc /scannow and DISM were having issues, however I got to the point in which sfc /scannow, DISM and chkdsk find no corruption nor discover anything be

Clean Install Workaround for Vista

You may remember this news story on techPowerUp! a couple of days ago relating to the lack of clean installs when using the Upgrade Editions of Vista, which required an old OS to be installed. However, Paul Thurrott has managed to find a workaround for this issue, which ironically lets users do a clean install Vista without any previous version of Windows, albeit a little tedious. Here are the steps:

• Boot from the Windows Vista Upgrade DVD as normal
• When prompted for a product code, leave this blank
• Select the version of Vista you have purchased and let Vista install
• When you boot to your desktop for the first time, run the Vista setup from Windows
• This time enter your product key
• When asked whether you want to do an Upgrade of Custom install, select custom and choose a clean install
• Windows will now install for a second time and you should be able to activate it

Remember, these steps are only advised for use in order to achieve a clean install of Vista, it is only legal to use the upgrade editions if you have previously purchased the appropriate version of Windows.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

• On the Search box, type msconfig and press
  Enter.
• On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog
  box, tap or click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.
• On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog
  box, tap or click Open Task Manager.
• On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click Disable.
• Close Task Manager.
• On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click OK, and then restart the computer.
