Windows 10: 0xc000000f error on bcd, /rebuildbcd shows element not found, Win 10

Hey guys,


Getting a little bit desperate here. This morning my computer wouldn't boot (more precisely, stuck in the preparing automatic repair cycle). So I got my original win 10 installation and put it on USB to try to see if I can repair it.


Now the Startup Repair that comes with the installation didn't work. So after some research I got into command prompt and try to fix it there. In the meantime I restarted my computer a couple of times and realized that the automatic repair was gone, instead I got the EFI\Microsoft\boot\BCD error with error code 0xc000000f.


So I looked it up too, and tried several of the methods. I noticed a few things.

1) \fixmbr works

2) \fixboot, shows element not found

3) \rebuildbcd found 1 file, in my OWN SYSTEM folder (where my original windows was installed instead of the USB), then proceeds to give me the element not found.


Here is the weird part (I'm not familiar with how windows file system works, but):

After I got into DISKPART, I noticed in LIST VOLUME, my drive letter were actually changed. My system drive, C:\, was changed to D:\ and my storage drive, D:\ was changed to C:\. That may just be a temporary thing I don't know.


I also try the ACTIVE PARTITION command but nothing worked.


At this point I'm not sure what else I could try. I could always re-install the system but that's always painful. If you have any suggestions I'd be very happy to try them!

Error code 0xc000000f, BCD corrupted

Hi Andre,

As per the description, I suggest that you follow the steps below to fix BCD

1. Right click on the Start Menu and select Command Prompt (Admin)

2. Here type/paste the commands listed below

Bootrec /fixMBR

Bootrec /fixBoot

Bootrec /RebuildBcd

3. Once done restart the PC and check.

Windows 10 No such device entering grub rescue

The thread you linked to does not help, using the steps taken in that thread nothing changes.

After a lot of searching when i boot i now i have the error Windows failed to start File:\Boot\BCD Status: 0xc000000f. However when I try to fix this using methods suggested elsewhere online I get the following results:

• bootrec /fixmbr
• The operation completed successfully

• bootrec /fixboot
• Element not found

• bootrec /rebuildbcd
• Finds 1 identified windows installation however when i click A to add it to the boot list it returns element not found.

• bootrec /scanos
• Finds 1 installation of windows and completes successfully
  

 

Error 0xc000000f on windows 10

When i opened my laptop it shows error 0xc000000f a required device cant be connected or accessed

then i made a bootable usb

then i tried chkdsk but there was an error and there were no bad cluster

so i used this codes

· bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup

· c:

· cd boot

· attrib bcd -s -h -r

· ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old

· bootrec /RebuildBcd

but when i use my bootable device

it shows the boot configuration data to your pc is missing or contains errrors
