    0xc00d36c4 error mp4 Playing MP4 Files Bought in Microsoft Store


    I have several MP4 films and TV shows videos that I bought several years ago in the MS Store. All of a sudden I get the error code 0xc00d36c4 error trying to play any of them in the WIndows 'Films and TV' app or MS Media Player. All my other MP4 videos play without this problem in both players. Why have only my MS Store videos started triggering this error and how do I solve it?My system is a Surface Pro 4 and I just ran an update check that says it is up to date. My current specs are:Edition Windows 10 Pro Version 22H2 Installed on ‎28/‎01/‎2023 OS build 19045.2965 Serial number 038650662653

    Error 0xc00d36c4 could occur if the video file is unsupported by the media player.

    • From where did you downloaded these files?
    • Is the issue specific with .mp4 files only?
    • Have you tried playing/opening other .mp4 files and check if the issue also persists?
    • Where you able to play these files before? If yes, did you make any recent changes on the computer prior to this issue?
    • What video player are you using?

    Hi so using the windows video app and windows media player to watch some mp4 videos results in the error code 0xc00d36c4 (0xc00d36c4) (which comes from the video app). What does this mean and how do I fix it?

    I have a few movies I ripped from DVDs I purchased a while ago. I am trying to transfer them to a USB device so I can play them in a couple player I have around my house (IE roku, and I have a sony version of roku as well) but the problem is once the file
    is on the USB It wont play anymore and gives me the error code 0xc00d36c4. However it is only some of the files I try to transfer to the USB, some work some dont. Their all mp4 files no different from another... They all play just fine from my hard drive
    though. The USB question is about 900gb and is in NTFS format. They default play with Movies&TV but I have tried that, windows media player, Photos, and even VLC media player. Any ideas how I can get them to work?
