Windows 10: 0xC1900101 - 0x20017 update error

For a while now I have been experiencing an issue where, when the computer has installed an update and restarts, it fails to restart properly hanging at the start screen. This has now become a more major issue as support for my windows 10 version is ending and I am being prevented from updating as the update is rolled back when I turn off the computer and restart again.


What is the best way around this issue. I am happy to do a complete fresh reinstall but will this result in my licence information being deleted ?


Alternatively, is there a better route to resolve this issue ?

As i am getting error code 0xC1900101 - 0x20017 but you suggested to refer 0xc1900101-0x40017. Just asking which one is right solution for my
issue ?

I have already tried the steps mentioned for error code 0xC1900101 - 0x20017 but No luck.

I also tried to upgrade through Windows Update but same error.

This thread starts with the same error and indicates how this issue was resolved in some cases. It's not going to be easy, I feel, with no one solution.
Note the same error has occurred with previous build upgrades.

Did you try the list of quick fixes which include removal of third party AV.
