Windows 10: 1. A different email account is asked in Microsoft ID "log in" depending on action’s...

Hello. During the installation of windows 10 on my laptop I created a Microsoft ID using my work email. Afterwards, I created an alias using my personal email Gmail. Every time I "log in" my Microsoft ID from an internet explorer Microsoft recognizes only my work email it does not allow me to "log in" from my alias email account there. When I "log in" from my laptop i.e. settings - email & accounts - manage my personal email is the one that pops up there.

So my questions are:

1. Why is this happening.

2. Is it possible to remove my personal email Gmail from my Microsoft ID so that when I sign in my Gmail account my email account to continue to function as before i.e. as a normal email account supporting all of its functions and if yes what are the steps to do so? I read at a post that after you remove an alias email account from a Microsoft ID this email account looses its ability to send or receive emails. The thing is that I have my personal email Gmail for more than 10 years and all my contacts and personal correspondence is done through there and if this is true then why - during the alias procedure - we were not warned about this loss in case we tried to remove or unlink the alias email account?

Also may I suggest you change email accounts to one of the following.....

Gmail
Outlook

The reason is they both use "Step two verification". This style of verification means even if a hacker gets your password they cannot log in to your account. You see every time someone try's to log in that hasn't been verified you will get a text or a phone call giving you a final code to log in. Its very easy and simple to setup also. The great thing is once you setup your Email application with a specific "application password" from that account you never have to log in again AND your account is protected from being logged in from foreign entities.

I like the new outlook personally however Gmail is also damn good. Gmail also has an IP tracker that allows you to see WHERE the account has been logged in from. Anyway let us know if you wanna change over and have any questions. We will be happy to help and welcome to TPU!

 

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region


I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.

 

Recovery of onedrive user id and password.

This will be the same email address and password combination that you use for your Microsoft Account.

Depending on whether your phone is on WP8.1 or Windows 10 Mobile, the exact steps might be slightly different.

Go to Settings, and then go to Email and Accounts. Whatever is listed first as your Microsoft Account is the email address you want to use for your OneDrive (in most cases).

If you can't remember the password for your Microsoft Account, from the web you can go the steps for "I forgot my password" on any Microsoft log in page. If you need help with this, ask below and someone can walk you through it.
