  3. Class not registered for explorer

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I understand that you receive Class not registered error. We will help you to resolve the issue.

I suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.

    • Press “Windows key + R” to get the run window.

    • Type “services.msc” and hit ok to open the services window.
Scroll down to find “Internet Explorer ETW Collector Service” and ensure to have this service started and check if this helps.

I also suggest you to perform SFC scan and check if it helps.

System File Checker (SFC) is a utility in Microsoft Windows that allows users to scan for and restore corruptions in Windows system files. Perform System File Check (SFC), and then check if this fixes the issue.

    1. Press the Windows button + X on your keyboard, a mini dialogue box will appear.

    2. Choose Command Prompt (Admin). You must run the command prompt in Administrator level.

    3. On the command prompt type sfc /scannow and hit enter.

    4. If everything went okay and no errors were found, restart your computer and see if the issue re-occurs.

Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

    Thank you.

    class not registered

Thank you very much for reaching out! As an Independent Advisor and fellow Microsoft user, I'm more than happy to assist you.

I've gathered a few steps you can try. Feel free to skip the ones you've already done. If you encounter any issues while trying them, please let me know and I'll be happy to help!

    1. Reset Default Apps:
      • Open Windows Settings.
      • Navigate to "Apps" and then "Default Apps".
      • Scroll down and select "Reset all default apps". This will reinstate all default Windows apps, which can often resolve the "Class Not Registered" error.
    2. Run System File Checker (SFC) and Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM):
      • Open Command Prompt as an administrator. You can do this by searching for "CMD" in the start menu, right-clicking on it, and selecting "Run as administrator".
      • Type the following commands one by one and press Enter after each:

      • These commands will scan and repair corrupted system files, which might be causing the error.
    3. Re-register DLL Files:
      • Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
      • Type the following command and press Enter:

      • This command re-registers the DLL file that might be causing the issue.
    4. Update or Reinstall the Application:
      • Try reinstalling the game and see if it works
    5. Force Close and Reopen File Explorer:
      • Right-click on the Start menu icon and select "Task Manager".
      • Find "Windows Explorer" in the list, right-click on it, and select "Restart". This can sometimes resolve the issue if it’s related to File Explorer.
