Unable to remove PIN on LOCAL ACCOUNT - Incorrect password

    Hi Kapil,

I have tried to fix proposed in the link you provided and still have the same problem, i.e. CANNOT remove 4 digits PIN code from my local account. Note I am using Win10 ver. 1803 (Built 17134.345).

    1. The FIX 1 never completed successfully
    2. I tried FIX 2 and the operation completed with 43 files processed and 0 file failed
    3. I restarted my laptop and tried to REMOVE my PIN
    4. This attempt was again a failure
    5. I tried the FIX 1 again and it also failed again
    6. I restarted my PC and tried REMOVING the PIN, the operation failed
    7. I retried FIX 1 but noticed this time in the Ngc folder properties that: SYSTEM, ADMINISTRATORS, LOCAL SERVICES and USER had all Full Control of that folder
    8. Nevertheless, I cannot complete set 1 to 6 of FIX 1
    9. Note the CHANGE PERMISSIONS button in step 4 is missing from my Windows version and the navigation procedure is different if I wish to ADD "SYSTEM" in step 6
Is there another solution or "Windows Fix" patch/download to resolve my problem.

    Thanks

    Windows 10 password incorrect

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I will be glad to help you with the issue you are having with the computer. I understand the frustration when things don't work the way it should.

    • Are you using Microsoft or local account?

I would suggest you to press the eye icon on the password text box and check whether you have entered the correct password.

I would suggest you to use On-screen keyboard and try logging into your local account and check if it helps. Follow these steps.

    1. On login screen click Ease of access button on bottom left corner of the screen.

    2. Click on On-Screen keyboard (OSK).

    3. Try entering the password using OSK and check.

Hope this information helps you. Kindly post back with the updated issue for further assistance.

    Thank you.
