    Windows 10 Installation Media DVD

I am getting ready to install a new Seagate 2TB HDD in my ASUS D550MA laptop and I was wondering how I can create an Installation Media DVD to install Windows 10 on the new hard drive and not have to purchase activation. In previous editions of Windows it
had a way for you to create the media on the computer in the recovery menu but I can't seem to find it. Do I have to download the Windows 10 ISO file then burn it to the DVD? And if I do that will it activate the computer automatically on the new hard drive?

    Thanks!

Hardware peripherals have always been built into the cost of the product. Now the manufacturers are tearing down systems that never sold and making bank off of the parts that were in systems that they knew that they would be losing money on the hardware side, so pre-installing Windows allowed the manufacturers to recoup that part of the cost for what Microsoft paid them to install the OS.

It is not even worth chasing $10, which it does not actually amount to that much, since it states that you "may" receive, not that you "will" receive. The lawyers are gambling on that no one asks for the money, so that they get more to hand back to those companies.

Regardless if I see my $10 (x4)......I filled it out. If you don't fill it out you're just SOL and that's what they are counting on.

Not being American myself, I find this bizarre. What about all the other times when prices were higher than normal.

$10 Rebate for Previous Purchase of Computer with DVD Drive

I bought at least 3 computers with internal ODD drives during that period as well as at least 1 standalone drive so I submitted a claim. I'll see what I'll get out out of the settlement.

I personally love class action lawsuits. Over the years I have gotten my house completely re-plumbed, received another settlement for $25K, and received other smaller settlements. Most of the time it's some small monetary settlement but I have also received things like a coupon for $5 off to buy another product from the company. Only in the case where my house was re-plumbed did I need to submit any supporting documentation. In the case where I received a check for $25K, I didn't even submit a claim, I was automatically included in the lawsuit just because of my job title.

I will be very surprised if they don't ask for proof of purchase. The only ones that will come out a winner is the lawyers.

I doubt if they will ask for any supporting documentation. Here's the a snippet from the confirmation email I received:

We will send you additional instructions via email shortly after the claims deadline on July 1, 2017. In that email, you will be able to select from a variety of electronic payment formats including PayPal, Google Wallet, Amazon Balance, and others in order to receive an instant payment.

Still remember the DRAM and Intel lawsuits. Those that create these lawsuits believed that they should have only paid $5 for a platter drive at Best Buy and other places that have to raise the price to make a profit. These lawsuits are as frivolous as the stupid Mickey D's Coffee one.

What's to stop just about anyone from saying I bought several computers that year? Without proof the most I see anyone getting is a discount coupon.

At first glance the McD coffee lawsuit seemed frivolous but if you actually do a little bit of research you'll find that it really wasn't.

Nothing to stop dishonest people. I got a check from Levi's for bluejeans in one case. I had to estimate how many pairs I had purchased for my kids when they were growing up. I personally don't wear bluejeans. In another case, I got a check from Red Bull or one of the other energy drink companies. I don't drink energy drinks but had to estimate how many had been purchased for the household since my wife and kids drank them.

  15. How about those that came with pre-built PCs? I still have mine that's been used since 2008 and is still rocking like new.
