Windows 10: 100% CPU usage in Resource Monitor constantly while Task Manager shows only between 1-3 %.

Hi,My processor is since yesterday after I came back from holiday almost continuously at 100% CPU-use, or sometimes slightly under it...I have closed almost all programs but that has no influence....no real background processes too. At the same time the Task Manager shows almost no CPU use 4%...and often the fans are working very hard even in this constellation...and sometimes they go down...I cannot find any logic in this...Any ideas what might cause this CPU problem? And how to solve it?

Thanks, but yes I was definitely seeing this issue while that trace was recorded.

Task manager was constantly showing 100% CPU usage and Resource monitor shows silly numbers for the CPU usage (40441489%).

If I sum the numbers under CPU in the Processes tab in Resource monitor, it matches the values shown in the trace (i.e., CPU usage is not 100%, but the charts and summary total at the top of the processes tab are maxed out.

In task manager the CPU usage numbers seem to be normalised to 100%.

i.e. they are constantly changing but seem to always add up to 100%.

I think that the CPU usage reported in the trace is correct, but Task Manager and Resource monitor are doing something wrong?

Hi, on the users tab of the task manager the CPU section always displays 100% CPU usage, but when viewed with Core Temp the usage percentage is at it's correct % which is 0-1%. Is there anyway to fix this? Thanks.

The system does not feel like it's lagging and games play fine. I don't hear the fans running fast to indicate the system is under strain. There is no indication of this. Plus the readings for core temp are the same with other apps I have tried. Process explorer being another that I have tried. And that also shows it sitting fine idle at 1%. Ordering by CPU usage does not show any programs/services taking up 100% usage.

The same. 100% cpu usage with the CPU core graph maxed out at 100% constantly. And thanks for the welcome *Smile
