Windows 10: 100% CPU usage.

Hi all. I sometimes use Xilisoft audio convertor and it puts CPU usage through the roof, sits on 100%. I do not use other progs to compare this to. Consequently PC slows down sometimes freezes, web slow to load etc. Is this normal. New install of win 10, 2 months ago. 8 gig ram. What do you think. CPU is about 3 years old. All other components have been replaced in a short period. Thanks.

Windows 10 extreme CPU usage

Thanks, but yes I was definitely seeing this issue while that trace was recorded.

Task manager was constantly showing 100% CPU usage and Resource monitor shows silly numbers for the CPU usage (40441489%).

If I sum the numbers under CPU in the Processes tab in Resource monitor, it matches the values shown in the trace (i.e., CPU usage is not 100%, but the charts and summary total at the top of the processes tab are maxed out.

In task manager the CPU usage numbers seem to be normalised to 100%.

i.e. they are constantly changing but seem to always add up to 100%.

I think that the CPU usage reported in the trace is correct, but Task Manager and Resource monitor are doing something wrong?

 

Windows 10 FPS Low FPS in War Thunder game

Under Windows 10 I have FPS drops to around 20FPS

CPU usage First core 100% all others 18-28% * overall cpu usage 50-55%

In windows 7 all 4 cores 100-95% * overall cpu usage 95-98% 60FPS wits small dips to 59 * Preset High

MY PC spec:

X4 860k @ 4.4Ghz

8GB(2x4GB) 1866 CL9 Ram

Club 3d 7790 @ 1285/1700

Any idea how to convince Win 10 to better utilize CPU in this game ?

In other games I not have this issue example in Witcher 3 I have near to 100% overall CPU usage and decent FPS.

This issue do not exist in Windows 10 beta period.

I just checked the system requirements on their website and you should be able to run it on your system. I would contact Xilisoft about your problem. You could also try a free audio converter to see if it's a problem with the Xilisoft program.

 

I tried Freemake Audio Covertor and its in the mid to high 50's. Will dump Xilisoft. Would the current % be reduced with a CPU upgrade. Thanks for your help Winuser.

 

Looking at your specs ( if that is in fact what you are running), it should work but its gonna push your system to the limit.

 

Yes, still the same badrobot. Do you think a CPU upgrade would be in order.

 

I would think so. Any form of conversion process takes a significant amount of CPU and memory resources.

 

Conversions are very CPU intensive. You can never have enough muscle. But it should never freeze - just slow down. I would use another program. This is the one I use.

I guess given that its now in the mid 50% range i might leave as is for a while and just wait and see. Thanks for all the help.
