100% Disk After New Motherboard Installation

Hello, I have recently got a new motherboard and switched it out with my old motherboard. My old mother board was a ASUS board (Can't remember the model) and I upgraded to Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P. When I turned my computer on for the first time with the new motherboard, for some odd reason the Disk catagory in Task Manager is always at 100% with just 0.1MB/s used. I have updated my computer and everything works fine except that. I've done all types of ways to fix it, but it doesn't seem to work.

  2. Upgrading parts in my Win 10 computer

I took the free Win 10 upgrade from Win 7 (which was installed from an oem disk when I built my computer.)

I want to upgrade my cpu to the new i7-8700K, but it requires the new z370 motherboard (yeah, thanks a lot, Intel). I'm not changing anything else, and I'll just plug my same hard drive into the new motherboard.

I read where only retail versions of Windows are allowed to be transferred to a 'new computer.' So, will a new motherboard count as a 'new computer?' Hardly seems fair that I would have to shell out +$100 for another copy of the same Windows I already have,
and on the same hard drive, just because Intel requires a new cpu socket.

And if it comes down to having to buy another copy of Windows, is there a way to leave my hard drive intact and activate it with the Product Code from the new disk?

Lost my windows 8 disk. Had to replace the motherboard, now Windows isn't running and I don't have the key. Do I have any recourse beyond buying a new OS?

when we change motherboards etc it is not the same pc so that does not help people possibly with this problem. Windows is seeing my pc as a different pc after a repair and i do not have the original disk/key.

therefore MS tells me I need new OS cos I lost my original windows 7 disk.

they say its a lost item.

clearly this is not the case as i did not buy to keep on disk i bought to install on my hard drive and that is where it still is. the installation disk for all intents and purposes is then defunct,.

after a new motherboard they fail to recognise me. that is a fault of MS not of me! i should be given a free replacement
