Windows 10: 100% Disk Usage Slow Computer

My computer has been running slow and this is the last try before I assume that the hardware itself is faulty and needs replacing. My computer has been experiencing spiking disk usage used by nothing. I have tried almost every possible fix. The program that takes up the most I/O reads is csrss.exe. It is not malware infected and still runs in a safe boot.

Symptoms: Slow Startup, (15-20 minutes) Slow Login, delayed start menu, using the task bar is very laggy, chrome loads quite slow. Constant freeze in any games (all this still happens when literally nothing is open). Very hot computer and fan going crazy. (have a cooling pad)

Fixes (that haven't worked) : Disabled Superfetch, BITS, Windows Defender, (might has missed one but I think those are the common culprits. Persists in a safe boot. Ran MWAB with nothing discovered. Deleted and played with permissions of user accounts (can be the result of high csrss usage). Ran Registry Cleaner, Disc Check, Repair, and even persisted through a factory reset. Set Virtual Ram higher and also disabled it. Power options are on high performance, anything else and the computer is unusable. Obviously multiple restarts. Updates have been installed. Ran RKill. Unchecked Max memory in system boot.

This problem did not happen in Windows 8. Since my computer came with Windows 8 I don't have a disk to downgrade. At first I upgraded and then did a clean install. Can't downgrade because of repairing and clean install. Don't know what else to do before throwing this computer away.

Did you remove/disable Autodesk? Can we see a new trace?

Hi, thanks for the reply, i've installed and recorded for 60 seconds, however i now cannot locate where the file was saved, any ideas?

What you CAN do is restore it to a fully-working Win8. You'll need the HP Recovery Media to do that (link was in the previous post). But understand that media will erase and reformat your hard drive, removing all data, settings, and applications. So, before using that, you'll have to do whatever you can to save off files and data you need to keep.

 

I haven't tried this. I downloaded the iso and have it installed. I also installed the program he mentioned to boot it with, but after putting the iso image in the program the start button is greyed out with no error message. Do you have any experience with this program? The Website FAQ did not help.

 

If your referring to rufus, I've used it. Your HP is most likely an UEFI firmware computer rather than the old MBr BIOS, so you need to select "GPT partition scheme with UEFI" as your partition scheme for target device. Make sure you select "FAT32" as your file system as USB formatted as anything else will not boot for a computer with UEFI. Select your .iso and you should be good to go.
