Hi! I've realised that transfer rate seems normal on normal boot (I think? As my hdd maximum transfer rate is about 70Mb/s) (Copying files from usb to hdd) However, the total disk usage still seems to be at 50% or more at 0.1mb/s transfer rate at times such as opening apps(Particular loading webpages on chrome) or being idle.

When transfering data from usb to hdd:

So it seems that this problem only emerge in certain situations but my hdd is still able to transfer data at the normal rate. I will try safe booting and get back to you with the results another time as I'm quite busy now.

    Thanks alot!

The first is writing, the second, reading. It would be interesting to compare transferring data to a USB disk.

Seems pretty normal to me, looks like reading is causing the high usage problem to occur.

I will try safe boot or Kyhi's Boot when i have the time and get back to you with the results in the future.

    Thanks!

That seems ok. And disk usage is ok for once.

Hi ... I've a nephew who can be a little mischievous & ignorant @the same time..using an Android root app he somehow hacked from the guest acct creating a service administrator account using a Windows 10 China version within this apk.. While and from a junk ass ZTE PHONE THAT HE HAD PLUGED INTO MY COMPUTER TO CHARGE( alledgedly )
I'd found the txt file from within the guest account inside a file for a game he installed that I could not for the life of me get to uninstall ..blizzard game .. How he figured out how to wreak such havoc.. IDK.!!! He doesn't own a computer. But win 10 as much as I love it still has some major flaws in security.. How a 30 year old nobody who never owned a computer ,deflower the securityon my Windows 10 insiders program edition Dell laptop ..WTF.. BACK TO YOUR DILEMMA.. DO YOU HAVE A GUEST ACCT.?? & /OR HAS ANYONE INSTALLED ANY GAMES/APPS/PROGRAMS W/O YOUR PERMISSION???

Hi dalchina! I did a safe boot usb transfer onto my hdd, here's the results:

100% Disk Usage, tried some methods found online. [IMG]

seems like what u said is true writing doesn't seems to be the problem, as the computer is able to transfer data at 46mb/s on safe boot. However, reading such as opening applications is causing the disk usage to be high at low transfer rate. Any ideas on what could be the cause for this?

    Thank You!

If it were a desktop I'd suggest swapping the slot/cable...

One thing more you could try is to put that disk in a caddy, and connect it as a USB disk on a different computer, or perhaps on yours booted from Kyhi's boot disk.
If writing to it and reading from it is then ok, it's not the disk hardware, buffer or interface.
That leaves your computer's hardware, or a driver issue.

If it's a driver- and thinking back to when this started, it could be worth trying it with the previous Windows build.

There are lots of posts on this issue: many just guesswork
