    Hello, I am Amrit and I am having a issue that whenever I leave my laptop idle in my task manger the disk usage goes high up and i updated my windows still the issue persists and from 2 weeks i am not aslo able to update windows, it always fails. I have tried everything and one day due to high data usage in my laptop due to updates I paused it for 7 days and disable windows update and update orchester services then it worked fine for 7 days, so is this issue related to windows update? If not resovled soon then I will have to switch to linux or anyother OS.Thanks in advance.

    100 % disk usage

    This is not quite what I asked.

    After a period of 5 . . 10 hours, your disk use should settle to around 5% while Windows is idling.

    Laptop idles at 70-100%

    It's not the disk, it's the CPU that idles like that.

    The only ''fix'' is to force the CPU to 50% max in advanced power settings, but that's kind of pointless as I'm leaving half of my CPU's potential unused.

    100% Disk Usage when the laptop is idle.

    Constant 100% Disk Usage, 60-80% CPU usage. Both happen when idle.

    Could you also provide a snapshot of Resource Monitor with selected Disk Activity Tab and checked only System:

    i would also suggest running checkdisk and sfc /scannow
