Windows 10: 100% Disk Usage

Hi there,

Recently, my laptop keeps spiking to 100% disk usage.
I've tried disabling Superfetch and Windows Search, adjusting the virtual memory, checking if I have the AHCI controller, check disk, none of it worked.
The only thing I haven't tried is System Restore (since I only noticed this after the last update) - I tried it, but it didn't work because it said the drive might be corrupt, and it still didn't work after chkdsk.
Any other ideas?

BSOD: CRITICAL PROCESS DIED

Before BSOD occur, my disk usage is 100% then suddenly it occur. It is not the case that every time when my disk usage is 100%, BSOD occurs.

 

Have you knocked the laptop while it was on / off because if you have then it may be corruption causing 100%, you know what that means an unrecoverable o.s, have you got a system recovery disk you could use ?

Also is it SSD or HDD ?

I don't remember knocking it.
Also, I should mention that the disk usage calms down after a bit, it's only a problem after startup and if I put it on standby or don't use it for a while.
Also, it's an HDD.

Well as you can see that's a lot of services that start up once os is loaded, not sure which way you want to analise this

1 - You could type each service into google for an explanation of what is does & weather you can Un-Tick it for start when needed

or

2 - Use a trial copy of tune up utilities to tell you what can be switched off then you can Un-Tick manually

Just had a thought that if you use tune up utilities in trial to stop services you could then take a picture of msconfig again so when you uninstall Tune up utilities you can untick the correct programs *Wink

 

You have Norton and AVG Anti-Virus on your computer. You can only have one. Having both will conflict.
Use the Norton removal tool or AVG Remover to remove one or the other

 

You need to try to identify the cause.

Simplest initial approach:
Does this happen if you do a clean boot? If not, then you have established a state which enables you to hopefully identify a possible cause.

Better to use Autoruns for Windows instead, it will also show you other startup items/tasks.

Or you can try something like Wise Care Free.

 

how about process explorer? the problem is i dont know which one should be kill from that services
