    10049->10074 Start button doesn't respond

    Just completed update. Get nothing when I click on the start button. Everything else seems fine. 10049 and earlier have been fine. Really don't want to have to do yet another clean install.

    Seems to have been an issue for others on 10049 & 10041 which were fine for me but this one ain't workin'!

    :)

  2. Get started button doesn't respond

    ok so I've been having problems out of my laptop and I finally got it to boot in safe mode and I moved the UAC to the lowest setting figuring I would now be able to reset my computer completely but now my get started button under reset this pc in settings
    won't respond...I click it and literally nothing happens. Does anyone have any other ideas as to how to do a factory reset or get the get started button to respond? It's running on windows 10

    Get started button doesn't respond

    Start your System, then just after the Manufacturers logo disappears and Windows 10 tries to boot, press and hold the power button down for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a hard shut down

    Do this Twice

    On the third boot attempt, Windows will boot into the Windows 10 Repair Environment, from there you can access Startup Recovery, Safe Mode, Command Prompt . . . etc.

    Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Reset this PC, choose to keep all your files and Apps, only your files or nothing at all . . .

    Are you running a 3rd party antivirus?

    The ONLY things I have installed are Firefox & Roboform. Also the "task view" button not working as well as the search box. Guess I will have to reinstall .... again.

    That might have worked ....... I did a clean install and had the same problem. Rebooted about 6 times, same thing. Then suddenly it started working. Probably if I had waited a bit longer it would have worked without reinstall (which only took like 5 minutes so it was no big deal). *Smile

    10049->10074 Start button doesn't respond

    Having similar problem myself. However, there are a few interesting things to add:
    On this computer, because it is at work (IT department), we have multiple users on it. My colleague's user account on this very same PC does not have this issue at all. But on my account when I click the start button, nothing happens.
    On the very same computer, if he was signed in on his account and clicks the start button, it works.
    I also can't click the date to pull up the time/calender.

    Sometimes when I click the search bar located inside the task bar, Cortana doesn't show up, and It won't let me type anything in it. (However, Windows-Key+S usually works)
    It took a very long time to install this update and because I'm the only user that is having this problem, a re-install isn't something that they want to do.

    90% of the time the start button doesn't work. 70% of the time the search bar doesn't work. 100% of the time clicking the date doesn't make the calender pop up. (Did they get rid of that? Or is it broken for me? At this point I don't know.)

    I feel like I should also mention that I'm merely posting to express a similar glitch/error with some details surrounding the user-specific point. I'm not particularly interested in a solution, I only hope that the next update rectifies this issue and that any information I can provide will help.

    Cheers!

    Preview 10074 ...

    OS began to boot with blank screen, was unable to gain access to desktop so I did an F8 "retore with preserve data" option.

    Now Windows Start button is frozen, Search button doesn't work, icons on desktop blank. Can get to other areas via Windows+ combos or the Notification area. This originally began while trying to see if I could resolved the brightness being on max and not adjustable.

    Looks like a redo from ground up now.
