I was impressed up to this build. Now the start screen icons that I create are blurred even when I choose the small size. Insider hub is much slower loading as are many other things. The whole thing seems to be suddenly clunky and slow. Why does it now need 3 clicks to use the start button? That in itself is a fundamental fail. For me the last build was infinitely better.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 (Modern UI) Apps get uncontrollable at all

To start with, why are you still on 10122? Are you time traveling?

    Hi,

I'm not on 10122, the version in screenshots is the most recent one 10240.

The first issue is a known issue that has been mentioned numerous times in numerous threads. It will get fixed.

Those other problems are likely related to the upgrade.. and would go away in a clean install.

Alternatively, you could try the Component store repair and sfc. After an upgrade, I always perform the following actions:

    1) Run Disk Cleanup, selecting to cleanup system files, then selecting all.
    2) From an elevated command prompt type the following three commands (they might take a while):

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    3) from the same command prompt, type "sfc /scannow" (again, might take a while).

Then reboot. And I find most problems go away. If they persist, then clean-install may be the only choice.

  6. Beta test installers are notoriously sloppy (sometimes also called 'Buggy')
So when ever I get an install (always a CLEAN install) that seems to be Buggy, I just reformat and reinstall, giving much attention to every detail during the install, and normally things turn out right.

Yesterday, I installed 10122/64 to a spare HD on my main system. My main HD was disabled so as to not be affected by the install.
Everything went according to plan and the new OS is running great. To give it the best test, I'm running it in its native form, without the addition of the Classic Shell. It's much harder that way, but I'm getting a true evaluation of what the program (OS) is all about.
I've had NO problems with it at all.

Edge was/is a total waste of megabytes! So I'm using Firefox, which works great on W-10.
After re-activating 'Windows Mail' I'm all set up with my five GMail accounts and they too are working great.
All that was done in just one day.
I even went into MSCONFIG/Boot.ini, and did the boot-speed-up tweaks and they work just fine, as they did on Windows 7.

Just under the surface of the Windows 10 skin, lies a much older operating system. MSCONFIG still works like it did even back to XP, likewise Regedit, Services.msc, etc. What's old is new again!!! Eh?

I'm sure looking forward to the final release, like I'm sure so many others are.

Cheers Mates and Happy Memorial Day,
    *Cool

IMHO this is the best build yet if you did a clean install. For me everything works that did not in prior builds. I do not use Edge but I use Firefox which works great in 10. There also is a Windows 10 Manger Beta out that if free so far which helps in cutting down the useless services.

Yeah. This build is great so far.
I like what they've done with the Start Menu but still can't make it narrower. Not everyone likes a big tile on start menu like me.

I do agree with you. So far what I did:
    • Every build. I did a clean install
    • SFC & DISM are clean
    • In earlier build. They had an option: "Pin To Start List" and was taken out in later build. However, I've heard that they'll put it back with build 10125.
Start menu will act normally until you start to pin 10 or more third party apps then Start Menu starts to act up. Pinned Items resize by itself, Multiple clicks required to get the menu to show up. So definitely, something is not working right. I ended up unpin all the items so only thing left is the Allapps on the left.

To be honest, I don't really care how they come up with the Start Menu. I don't use it even with Vista, 7, 8 or 10. I just configure the way I think it works best for me ie. Quick Launch Toolbar.

Not necessarily a problem but Task Manager takes ages to load, mind you, there's a heck of a lot of tasks running!

As far as I can tell, the build is more stable. I can run my Nvidia Surround even with custom resolutions.

It does take a long time to boot and usually about 45 seconds from the spinning dots to the Logon. I can tell if I am booting Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 just by the delay...

What the others did not mention is the preview is being monitored by Microsoft. I would say at least some of the delay is due to logs or data being collected about the operation of the OS.

The video resolution you mention is noticeable enough for me that I put my gaming system back to Windows 8.1. When I compare the Windows 10 to 8.1 display on my triple monitors, it looks like someone has cleaned the windows so I can see more clearly and the colors are more vibrant.. No pun intended.. *Wink but this may be something Nvidia and Microsoft still need to work out.

    Edwin,
Just put an exclusion in Windows Defender for C:\Windows\System32\Taskmgr.exe then it will start instantly.

  14. How to get rid of the ridiculous lock screen on a desktop PC, which seems to want to be tossed upward even by a mouse - the kind of touch intrusion onto the Windows desktop that made Windows 8 the biggest flop in tech history.

I have disabled it in Group Policy editor since the beginning but that doesn't seem to do any good now. Other suggestions.?

Hibernate still doesn't work in the new build. It will appear to go into Hibernation and even Resume, but no work is saved.
