Windows 10: 11/21/24 update is faulty for at least some of us

The update that popped up November 21 2024, KB5046740, is faulty for at least some of us. When my computer tried to reboot afterward, the monitor froze at the point where it should switch from the Dell logo to the background image. I had to hard kill the computer as there was no way to shut down via software. No about of restarting would clear the issue. I had to wind up going into safe boot and eventually found that, after I uninstalled the latest quality and feature updates, I got it back to booting. It's possible that only one was needed, but I went in the order on the screen and the first

DirectX suddenly not working after quick update 21/11/2017

Hi Daren,

DirectX 11 or 12 is already included in Windows 10 via Windows update. Therefore, you should already have the latest version of it. For us to further isolate the issue, we would like to ask for a screenshot of the recent update that was installed.
You can check it by following the steps below:

• Open Settings.
• Click Update & security.
• Choose View installed update history under Windows update.

In the meantime, we suggest updating the games that are not working for it to be compatible to the newly updated system. If the issue persists, kindly uninstall the game and reinstall it back if possible. (Only uninstall it, If you'll not lose any data/information
of the game.)

geforce experience takes an age to load..

Well that's why I asked. Mine is on SSD and takes 11 seconds. Your list of games will not appear if it has not checkd for updated suggested settings for awhile until it checks.

When it says it is refreshing the game list, it is checking, because NVIDIA periodically updates suggested settings. Plus it will look for those for new games you have installed.

So, the less it is run, the slower it will be.
