Windows 10: 12/9/20 Update DELETED my ENTIRE CAMERA ROLL !!!!!!!!

Update came in automatically today, with NO warning or explanation, just froze pc [93-100 % ram in use] for over an hour. Afterwards, my GUI, files, faves, everything was missing. I restarted, and GUI , docs, downloads came back, but SAYS CAMERA ROLL IS EMPTY ! I had well over a thousand photos in pc, now ZERO. **** ???????

I suggest you to follow the below steps for arranging the camera pictures in recent order and check if it helps.

• Press “Windows+E” it will open file explorer.
• Go to “This PC” and click on “pictures folder”.
• Then click on “camera roll folder”.
• And right click on the empty space and select “sort by” option.
• Then select ascending option.

Camera Roll Icon on Desktop will not stay 'DELETED'!


For some reason, and I think it was a Win10 Update that caused it, the 'Camera Roll' Shortcut keeps coming back onto the Desktop Screen when I delete it.

I read a much older post where it seemed to be linked to One Drive and a Photos App but One Drive is blocked from starting up on my laptop and does not appear in any listing of the Programs or Folders on my machine, while I also do not have a 'Photos App'.

But trying to get rid permanently of the Camera Roll 'Shortcut' on the Desktop is infuriating!

Can anyone assist me please in sending this Shortcut to the 'PERMANENT GARBAGE BUCKET' where it will not come back?

TO Delete Camera Roll photos From Your Phone without using the Zune software:

1. Open the Pictures Hub on your phone.

2. At the top of the list that appears is "camera roll". Don't choose this. Tap the next item on the list, which should be "albums".

3. Now you should see an array of tiles representing your albums. The top left album should be "Camera Roll". Long press this album to bring up a menu of options.

4. If you have items in your "Camera Roll" you will get two options popping up - "pin to start" or "delete contents".

5. Choose "delete contents" to delete the entire contents of your "Camera Roll".

6. If you only want to delete individual photos, open the "Camera Roll" and then long press on any of the photos to bring up the menu options. Among these options will be "delete". Tap to delete one photo at a time.

Remember if you have uploaded photos to SkyDrive and your phone is running Windows Phone 7.x, only reduced resolution photos are uploaded to SkyDrive. To keep a full resolution image, you'll need to use the Zune software to transfer photos from your phone to
your PC.
