  1. 121% CPU Usage...

I really don't know what is going on, first, the sound was suddenly crap until I turned of nahimic, sound returned to normal. Then once that was solved, I went to play RS6 and first everything went to a different resolution and a window popped saying uplay has crashed, I didn't get a chance to write down the error. I had to shutdown the laptop (holding the power for 10 seconds). Then after turning the laptop on, I went to the resource manager and noticed that the cpu usage was more than 100%. This just happened suddenly, I saw nothing weird yesterday, last week or month, this is really strange.

    Windows 10 extreme CPU usage

Thanks, but yes I was definitely seeing this issue while that trace was recorded.

Task manager was constantly showing 100% CPU usage and Resource monitor shows silly numbers for the CPU usage (40441489%).

If I sum the numbers under CPU in the Processes tab in Resource monitor, it matches the values shown in the trace (i.e., CPU usage is not 100%, but the charts and summary total at the top of the processes tab are maxed out.

In task manager the CPU usage numbers seem to be normalised to 100%.

i.e. they are constantly changing but seem to always add up to 100%.

I think that the CPU usage reported in the trace is correct, but Task Manager and Resource monitor are doing something wrong?

  3. WMI Provider Host is using significant CPU activity on my laptop with window 10. Is this a problem and is this slowing down my laptop?

Should I be doing anything concerning the amount of CPU usage taken by WMI Providr Host, 15 to 22% CPU usage ?

  4. 121% CPU Usage...

I checked side by side with cpuid, both Resource Manager and CPUID do not share the same result no matter what. CPUID show's it's running normally. I will attempt to flash bios and find anything else.

It's normal for CPU frequency to go over 100 if it is using turbo boost.

3230M has max turbo of 3.2 so 3.2/2.6=123% which is near enough 121%.

Not sure if this applies to maximum utilization as well but you could see what speed is shown on performance tab of task manager.

In Windows 8 and Windows 10 it is possible for Task Manager to show over 100% CPU usage. The displayed usage is adjusted according to the CPU frequency. When CPU frequency is low (for a light load) the CPU usage will be reduced proportionately. When turbo boost is in use it can exceed 100%. This is by design and not a bug.
