Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 5406 2 in 1 laptop. I wanted to upgrade the Ram from 8GB to 16GB. I opened the bottom panel / cover of laptop to check the Ram Card specs. I disconnected the ribbon type cable for the battery connection and pressed on the power switch to ensure the system was full turned off. I then removed the existing Ram and took a photo of it. I then reinstalled the ram and connected the battery cable , I turned on the laptop and my touchpad is not working anymore. After googling for answers, I checked in Devise Manager in control panel and found 12C HID Code 10, I uninstalled it and reinstalled but no change. I even reinstalled windows 11 but again I had no luck. Can anyone advice on a possible fix?

Is there a possibility that I did not attach the battery cable fully ? Afterall, it is just a plastic strip that does not stick on the terminals (not sure if it is sitting snugly against the corresponding pins).

Is it possible to install windows 11 pro on dell inspiron 2 in 1 laptop 5410?

I would like to know if its possibel to upgrade to windows 11 pro from windows 10 on dell inspiron 5410 2 in 1 laptop. If so, what are the steps and how do I do that?

I have,

Dell Inspiron 5406 11th Gen Intel(R) Core (TM) i3-1115G4 @ 3.00GHz 2.19GHz

running on Windows 10 Home Single Language (22H2).

My laptop touchpad isn't working properly.

Device Manager is identifying HID Compliant Mouse as PS/2 Compatible Mouse, and I2C HID Device not able to start and shows HID descriptor failed. This shouldn't be happening. There are so many users with the same problem. I have searched for solutions on Internet and have tried a lot of methods, most of which doesn't help. Some methods like RESET PC helps for short period of time, are not reliable. It's a very bad idea and waste of time to RESET PC on weekly basis. I am tired applying temporary solutions. Please provide a permanent solution for this problem.

Hoping for a positive response with an acceptable permanent solution. : )
