Windows 10: 144hz only running 120hz

Discus and support 144hz only running 120hz in Windows 10 Gaming to solve the problem; I've bought benq xl2411k monitor which is 144 hz and connected it to my laptop but it only shows 120 hz is there any reason why ? my laptop is MSI GF63...     144hz only running 120hz


    I've bought benq xl2411k monitor which is 144 hz and connected it to my laptop but it only shows 120 hz is there any reason why ? my laptop is MSI GF63 thin 10sc i7-10750h with gtx1650 also i use HDMI 2.1 cable

    Can't choose 120hz

    Hey I have a 144hz screen monitor and a HDMI cable that should be able to transfer 120hz correct but i can still not choose in the alternatives "120hz"

    My 144hz monitor is stuck at 60hz.

    I've already done most of these things. I've updated my monitor drivers and my GPU drivers, I'm on the most recent Windows version. Though I should mention, that this is a hand me down from my father, who used this monitor and GPU at 120hz with an HDMI cable. The current resolution I'm running at is 1920x1080@60hz, but when I look at the "List All Modes" in advanced display properties, there is one listed for 1280x720@120hz. I did test it out by switching the resolution to 1280x720 and in the advanced display settings it did say 120hz, but I don't want to sacrifice quality for smoothness, as this monitor should support 1920x1080@144hz. I've tried using the Nvidia control panel "Create Custom Resolution" but no save option appears after I press test with 144hz selected.

    I understand that you are using a monitor that supports 144Hz, however you getting black screen after the sign in page.

    As per the information provided by you, I have checked that the monitor supports 144Hz. However, the Sapphire RX 570 graphics card that you are using supports only up to 120Hz using the display ports. Please refer the graphic card
    specification by clicking on
    Sapphire RX 570    .



    I suggest you to set the refresh rate for the monitor at 120Hz and check the result.



    Follow these steps to change the refresh rate of the monitor.



    1. Press Windows key + I.
      This will open Settings.
    2. Click on System.
    3. Click on Display.
    4. Click on Advanced display settings.
    5. Click on Display adapter properties for Samsung monitor.
    6. Click on Monitor tab.
    7. Under Monitor Settings, use the drop-down menu to select the refresh rate and change it to 120Hz.
    8. Click on Apply button.
    9. Click on OK button.
