  1. 16 gb ram and more then 12gb is in standby. Can anyone help me to tyrn off this mapping...

My system has 16GB of RAM and i already turned off page files because they are so buggy and makes system un responsive.

I used to keep page files on in past but i am a kind of multitasking guy so it always make system run slow then i found the solution. Page files heavyly writes datas to SSD even when 70% of ram is free. After turning it off i noticed a improvement but after a few days i found one more issue that stopping my pc to run fast and thst is standby memory.

The standby memory cache stays around 12GB even when my commit limit is reached causing either a low memory warning or a program which crashes because it couldn't allocate memory.

When i restart the computer standby memory is low and pc run smoothly. I am using a 970 pro so the ssd is quite fast if i turn on page files to SSD but i am concerned about the warranty.

I know the pagefile in ram is small, but it is for two reasons - limited SSD space and a windows controlled pagefile was causing performance issues from swapping too often.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    :)

Does it help to force the kernel into RAM when you've got 16+ GB RAM?

    Hi,

So I was reading on the tenforums (as well as elsewhere) that supposedly forcing the windows kernel into RAM increases performance of Windows.

Some of the write ups that I read suggested you only do this if you have an abundance of RAM, but other things I read suggested that the Kernel is already in RAM unless a program/app requires more memory in which case the Kernel is swapped out to virtual ram on the HDD and the real RAM is allocated to the program/app.

So, if you have 16+ GB of RAM, would it improve performance to force the kernel onto RAM or will it simply always be in RAM when you have plenty of free RAM? Looking in task manager I rarely see my computer using more than about 4GB of my 16GB SRAM, unless for certain games that I play that will actually go up as high as about 12GB (with a bunch of added add-ons), so would it be worth looking further into this subject for my use or is it just as likely that the kernel is staying in RAM anyway since I never come close to using 16GB.

    Thanks

  3. how to upgrade Ram from 8 to 16 gb?

Hey Madan. This is not a Windows issue or Microsoft issue but I'll try to help.

To go from 8 GB RAM to 16 GB. You will have to actually purchase COMPATIBLE 16 GB sticks of RAM then install them. Dell Inspiron might have more information on what kind of RAM is compatible with your PC.

Getting more RAM is not a simple troubleshooting fix and if you are on a laptop, it might be impossible.

Windows takes 26,5 GB RAM in Standby

    Hello

I'd like to know why Windows takes 26,5 GB RAM in Standby (see picture).

This causes lags while gaming because only a few or zero MB are released. Unplayable and annoying.

Today I updated the RAM from 16 to 32 GB in the hope it won't use everthing but is does.

I compared with a few other PC's but each other pc stops about at 5 to 10 GB and everything runs fine.

Now I'd to create a schedule with empty standbylist and cost me a lot of time to find the problem and the solution.

    Regards
