Windows 10: 17134.112.180619-1212.rs4_release_svc_refresh_CLIENTCONSUMER_RET_x64FRE_en-us.esd recently...

My Win 10 laptop recently installed 17134.112.180619-1212.rs4_release_svc_refresh_CLIENTCONSUMER_RET_x64FRE_en-us.esd and now the Start menu will not function, Alt + Tab will not work, And Services show services with No Status. I tried to do a selective restore, but the only option is the above update on 5/20/2019. No other restore points are available. Have limited ability to make changes on my own machine. Even if I get to Settings, nothing shows up in the dialog. It is as if my machine is in limbo (i.e. in the middle of the update). Completely at a loss at this point as to what to do to return my machine to a restore point prior to 5/20/2019.

multiple windows10 upgrade folder

Why there are multiple windows10upgrade folder 1) C:\Windows10Upgrade (SSD) and 2) D:\Windows10Upgrade (HDD) .D drive folder contains only two ESD files 17134.112.180619-1212.rs4_release_svc_refresh_CLIENTCONSUMER_RET_x64FRE_en-us.esd ,17134.112.180619-1212.rs4_release_svc_refresh_CLIENTCONSUMER_RET_x64FRE_en-us.esd_
....... so can i delete D:\Windows10Upgrade folder? as i want to clone my windows 10 os which is on ssd to hdd and want to install ubuntu on ssd. i have recently purchased a new laptop but as i am a programmer mostly i will use ubuntu. is it safe to clone
os from ssd to hdd and then delete windows os from ssd and boot windows os from hdd and ubuntu from ssd? is there any other way than cloning as cloning deletes all the files from target disk? i fear that i may loose windows recovery files or any other important
files which could be hidden as i cannot see any other folder than D:\Windows10Upgrade. in my D Drive.

 

Recent Windows 10 update (April 2018)

Due to an illness, I did not get the April 2018 update until a month ago. Now I am finishing the installation of my new(ish) Surface Book 2 and have come to a strange phenomenon. Since I HATE having everything on drive C: (many reason, most people understand),
I partitioned the 1TB disk into a few smaller ones and moved what is easily movable from c:\user\myname to the appropriate parts (documents to D, photos to H, music to M etc. (I hope that one day I will be able to move the lot - as it is I avoid Edge, and
Chrome, since their foles cannot be moved from C.

After the update, I fined two esd files in the root of the disk H:, they look identical (almost the same name, same size 3397035) except for the name, perhaps one is an incomplete download?

The questions are two:

(1) can I delete these?

(2) (more important) how did they end up on that drive?

I would have understood them being on the T (temporary) where I sent the variables TMP and TEMP, but on H:?

I'd appreciate any insight into this (and an alswer to (1)).

Missing ESD

• Have you tried any changes prior to this issue?
• Have you tried to check the files in your Recycle bin?
• May we know what troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?
• May we know what ESD file are you trying to create? Is it for Windows 10 update?
