1809 Update, WIN 10 PRO, as before 1803, Folder Properties, Folder Size problem continues. Only reliable results from MS Folder Copy, MS Folder Delete and Mark Russinovich, du64. Since 21 Nov 2018 tested on all my Backup Drives, 50 GB to ...1.78 GB e.g. giving me 958 GB. Results vary widely. Appears, varying Top & 2-nd Tier Folder names are the culprits, to which du64 at least protests if not acceptable. After 1803, reported again, MS Assure, Case #144 941 6845, MS T-1&2 Manila, MS T-3, New Delhi. Leo

Win10 pro 1803 update shows wrong folder sizes

Windows 10 pro 1803 update shows totally wrong folder sizes. same problem is reported by other users here. Same problem is posted here by other users too, as early as May 2018. I wonder what has been done about it by Microsoft.

The problem is two fold

1. If you select a folder directly from left pane of the file explorer by right clicking it, it shows totally wrong total size.

2. If you left click the folder in the left pane to see listing of subfolders and files in it - in the right pane, and then select everything in the right pane by control +A and then right clicking it to see total size of all folders and filess, the folder
that is just underneath the cursor is selected and shown at the top of the box that opens to show the total size. Here too it shows wrong size information. I wonder why windows selects name of the folder underneath the cursor to show at top of the box even
when you select all folders.

I hope Microsoft will take care of this on urgent basis and not sleep over it.

I have been using Windows since windows 3.11. Every time there is a upgrade, some old problems disappear and totally new ones crop up in the most unexpected places.

Can't redirect personal folders in 1809

For your questions:

1. No. My account is on system drive/partition as default.
2. I installed 1809 with Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant, updated from 1803 latest.
3. My User folder is on system drive, but some of personal folders, include Download/Video/Music/Docs were set to other partitions.

Those settings were set when my Win10 installed for the first time, and never changed during every update version.

 

Downloads folder is the Documents folder

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.
