Windows 10: 1903 and now 1909 random freeze

I have a computer that originally shipped with Windows 7, and I upgraded to 10 last July. Starting around August, I noticed my computer would be frozen about once a week. To recover I would have to press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (hard reset). I started a scheduled task that would restart the computer once every 48 hours at 3am. This mitigated the problem until about the start of december, where the computer would often freeze at less than 48 hours of uptime - shortest uptime I've seen is a out 20 hours. This problem is persisting through the 1909 update.

I've run the memory tests and run the system file checker with no reported faults. Malwarebytes reports no faults.

I'd like to run this computer 24/7 since it runs an arcade machine emulator and media server. The reboot scheduled task is acceptable, but I'm concerned the problem will get worse and this mitigation will no longer be effective. Anything else I can try?

Windows 10 1903 1909 repeated failure to update

Well would't you know it. I did everything, every step, all the suggestions, months of failed downloads and was going to wipe everything tomorrow and start again, but remembered I hadn't tried your suggestion of updating to 1809 before 1903/09, and blow
me down, but it's updated to 1809 with ease!

I have yet to dare to try and get it to update to 1909 but it's the 1st progress in months, so thanks.

 

Random freezes or shut downs

Completely random freezing/shutdowns on a system with no recent hardware changes, and hard drive, memory, and PSU fine, usually means a software issue (file corruption or malicious software). I suggest following DavidV's recommendations.

 

BSOD freezes 0%. Windows 10 1909 (Involuntary update)

From a recent involuntary update to version 1909, I am getting more and more frequent random BSOD at 0% that freezes or does not progress as soon as it pops up forcing me to hard reboot. Before when I had 1903 with each update random BSOD became frequent.
I have checked drivers, registry, repeatedly, have chkdsk /f /r 3 times. Have followed the Microsoft tutorials on all the BSOD issues. Have had the mb, memory and video card tested twice in shop. No problems found. Have even reloaded a clean 1909 from
Microsoft with media creation tool. Come on people wtf??? How the %%%%% can I do a home business with these issues? You are costing me a fortune.
