2 External Display Monitors have compressed my 1920x1080 to a square.

Hi, My daughter used my Kogan display monitors x2 once connected directly by HDMI to laptop, and the other monitor HDMI is connected via a USB hub to the laptop. I have no idea what happened but she said is suddenly started displaying with everything squished. There are now 2 black panels on either side of the screen. I am seeing the full height of the screen but not the full width and so text and shapes are squished to skinny. This is still occurring on her HP laptop connected to the monitors and now my work laptop Thinkpad. After having a look at other articles i have tried rolling back m

External Monitor displaying at 1920x1080 and not 2560x1080

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

This issue could be because of the cable you are using to connect the monitor, below are few information you will find helpful.

HDMI cable supports 1080p of maximum resolution, whereas DVI-D cable supports 1680 x 1050, mini DisplayPort supports 2560 x 1440 and mini DisplayPort to VGA supports 192x1050 resolution.

I suggest you to try with different cable and check if that works and try the below steps and check if that helps.

    Steps:

    1. I suggest you to
      uninstall
      the Intel graphics driver from

      the device manager
and reboot the computer once and check.
    2. I also suggest you to
Download drivers and firmware for Surface
      and check.
    3. You can also open Intel graphics properties and try to change the display resolution from there.

    Additional information:
Displays that work with Surface Studio
    .

If you still face the issue, please reply to this post with more information.

    Hope it helps.

    External monitor display settings

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are facing issues with the display scaling on your external displays. We will certainly look into this for you.

As you are using Vizio TV, you may have to try using custom resolution settings if the in-built settings do not provide the required settings.

For better clarity, please let us know:

    • What is the version of Windows 10 that is currently installed on your computer? You can click on Search and type
      winver.
    • Are you aware of any recent changes to the system, such as updates, after which you are facing this issue?
    • What is the make and model of your computer?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to check the steps mentioned in the Workaround section in

Windows scaling issues for high-DPI devices

I would also suggest you to check the Display drivers. Please refer
