Windows 10: 2.GB recovery drive of 16.9 free

How to I get rid of the junk in my recovery drive?
I have HP and installed windows 10 about a month or so ago.
I do not have any issues with windows 10. I think this update caused my D drive to be so full

As far as limited space goes, I got the space up to 16.9 GB, in addition there is 41.7 GB available on 64 GB SD card. The installation options on the upgrade do NOT include using either the "D" drive or external memory. They only allow the cleanup/remove
programs. But the update requires 16 GB and I have 16.9 free.

So yes installing the Anniversary Update is a priority. Microsoft tried to address that but in the process ran some scripts that hosed my computer.

As stated (1) I cannot access the Start Screen (2) I don't have the password to the Admin account as it was setup by Microsoft Support (3) I cannot use the Windows button (4) I cannot access setting.

I spent 5 hours on-line with 5 different people at Microsoft Support and in my opinion the situation progressively got worse. For example I just plugged a mouse in and it sends me right back to the login.

 

Unable to complete Windows 10 update due to insufficent disk space

My C drive has 570 gb free but the upgrade is saving to my D drive which is the recovery drive which only has 2 gb free. I'm not sure how to get it to save to the C drive and not the D drive.

 

Hard to tell what you are talking about - post image of your disk partitions, and provide more explanation.

 

The 16.9 GB Drive is your HP Recovery drive , incase you ever need to set the Computer back to the way it was the day you purchased it ,(Factory condition), if it had Win8 when you got it ? then you can delete everything in that Drive if you REALLY need too and know what you are doing , so you Can get windows 10 Back instead , if you have a major issue.
