Windows 10: 2 identical laptops, one without touch screen. Why?

My wife is a teacher and the county gave her a laptop for work, an HP Elitebook 820 G3. She likes the touchscreen feature, and is now familiar with this computer. (Neither of us are tech people.)

I bought her the exact same model laptop, refurbished from Newegg online. Nice new installation of Windows 10 Pro. Seems great, but doesn’t do touchscreen. I researched a bit on line without being able to find any solution that worked. I did determine that on the refurbished laptop, the “HD compliant touch screen option” is missing. It’s just not there, but it is on the county’s laptop.

2 identical computers running Windows 10 . one has touchscreen and one doesn’t. Why is this? I don’t understand, and I’m very curious. I don’t suppose there’s a quick, easy fix is there?

Hi,

We sure can provide some troubleshooting steps before you decide to get help from your laptop's manufacturer. Please follow the suggested solutions below:

Method 1: Check if the touch screen driver is enabled.

• In the Search bar, type Device Manager.
• Locate Human Interface Devices and look for touch screen.
  
• Right-click touch screen and check if it is enabled. If not, please enable it.

Method 2: Reinstall the touch screen driver.

• In Device Manager, go to Human Interface Devices.
• Locate touch screen again and right-click it to Uninstall
  the driver.
• Restart your PC to automatically install the driver.

Laptop with broken screen How much?

I would like suggestions and look in local stores. I dont wanna buy a laptop from someone online. Sorry. But could be a good idea if you asked him about the performance on older games. Gonna make a list ofall laptops people suggest me.

Remove the screen for space purpose here its small desk and if the screen is opened it will hide my 22 inches lcd

 

Touch screens

I can do 60 words per minute on my phone, perhaps more now as I've got used to the phone. ( htc desire z, using the stock onscreen keyboard)

Touch screen + predictive text I recon I could equal my keyboard typing speed. Maybe beat it depending on how advance the predictions are.

( hard to use predictive software on traditional keyboards as there is no way to quickly choose the suggested word, where as touch screen keyboards can have the suggested words appear above the function keys)
