Windows 10: 2 new PCs, same MS user. Detach Documents from OneDrive?

Hello,


I've have a desktop machine with an MS user account for some time. I also use OneDrive but it's separate from the common folders like Documents, Pictures, etc.


I set up 2 new laptops using the same MS user account, but must have chosen some option during setup that made my Documents and some other folders now linked to my OneDrive.


I want to continue with OneDrive to share/sync things I choose between all the machines but I don't want OneDrive Linked to the windows special folders like documents, pictures, music, etc...


How do I get my standard folders separated from OneDrive ?

retargeting Document folder under This PC to C:\User\Julie\Documents from C:\User\Julie\Onedrive\Documents

I have a new PC. It has been set up with OneDrive. I don't want it. I uninstalled it but the documents folder under This PC is still OneDrive\documents. I can not point it to a new location. I want the document folder to be C:\User\Julie\Documents NOT
C:\User\Julie\Onedrive\Documents

 

Documents Folder Stuck in OneDrive

THANK YOU so much for this post. I registered for a forum account just to say thanks. I've been struggling with a similar issue all morning on my Surface Book. My Documents and Pictures folder under my user were stuck as onedrive folders and I could not get them un-linked. The batch files in the article you wrote and linked to worked perfectly!! Thank you!! Utterly disgraceful that OneDrive does not have a way to easily and obviously detach itself from your folders.
