KB5027538 and KB5027293 were downloaded on 7/3/23 and I selected Restart. It was on the restart screen for an hour so I knew something was wrong. Maybe this wasn't right but I thought I'd hard reboot and remove the updates, but I could not get anything but a black screen. The tech had to remove the hard drive and work on it from another system to remove the update and get the system working again. Likely it was the optional update that caused the problem? Thanks, Microsoft, you owe me $95!

    :)

    Hi Paul,

We appreciate your earnest effort for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

Suspending updates will temporarily stop the update but eventually the update will be automatically installed.

If an update you are being offered is causing system crashes or instability and Windows was operating correctly prior to that change, you can follow these instructions to prevent the unwanted driver or update from being installed:

    • Type “View Installed Updates” in the Search box and then click on View Installed Updates – Control Panel from the Search results.
    • To uninstall the unwanted update, select it from the list and then click Uninstall.

Download the "Show or hide updates" troubleshooter package now.

If you still want to continue troubleshooting this issue, please follow the steps provided on article:

Feel free to post back if you have further questions.

    GPU-Z 0.8.7 crash on launch

W1zzard is asking you to test so that he can suggest next steps and be able to troubleshoot the issue you have.
If another version works, it would be one set of steps.
If several other versions also fail/crash, then it would be another.
