Windows 10: 200% display magnification *AND* larger icon title font possible?

My notebook computer has a 3200 x 1800 native resolution which at 100% renders mighty tiny desktop icons and text.

In all her wisdom, Mother Microsoft has decreed that 250% resolution is the "(Recommended)" one. Problem is, some "legacy" programs, including WordPerfect and and Opera 12, don't scale well at non-even ratios. At 200% they are razor sharp. At 250% they are fuzzy. The whole point of a 3200 x 1800 screen is razor sharp. Even a few Windows dialog boxes are fuzzy at 250%.

But, my main gripe is that at 200% zoom, the icon titles and title bars default to 9 and the ability to change is greyed out. I would like to use 10 (or possibly 11, not sure because I can't test them.) Only with the zoom set to the "Recommended" 250% can the font size be changed, but it doesn't stick when changing to 200%.

Is it possible to modify a Registry key directly to enable enlarging the font sizes when using 200% zoom? I can't seem to locate an appropriate Registry key.

And/or is there a way to get razor sharp display in all apps at the "Recommended" 250%?

Font Size

How can I increase the font size in Windows without screen magnification increasing as well? I know how to go into settings--display--scale, but this increases the image as well as the font size. All I want to do is to increase the font size. For example,
on the desktop there are icons with titles, and the titles are too small although the icon is enlarged. Thank you.

 

Icon & text size

desktop - I can make the Icons larger, but don't seem to find a way to make the font larger. The old way, through Display Options doesn't have that option any longer.

There are no strings or DWORDS in the right pane for PerMonitorSettings. Do you have any suggestions for what to add?

There is a sub-key in the left pane under PerMonitorSettings with a really long name, starting with SDC424A0_... which has one DWORD -- "DpiValue" with a complex rather value (Decimal=4294967294, Hex=0Xfffffffe). That sub-key doesn't seem to lend itself for tweaking, either.

 

The subkey is the monitor name windows uses. You are gonna have to do the math to get a decimal value to enter, for the magnification you want. My display is 1920x1080p and my DPI value is set at 0 (for both monitors). All i can say is adjust your screen from 150% to 250% and watch the values of that key change so you have an idea what range to use.

I don't have a problem with the magnification. 200% is exactly what I want, and I can select that from Display. What I want is to unlock the icon font-size when I do that. It's locked at a then-teeny size 9 and greyed-out. At 250%, I it's unlocked and I can select another size. (250% is what Mother Microsoft decrees is "recommended. *Rolleyes)

 

Oh I'm sorry, I misread what you wanted. there are tons of posts about the icons and MS is pushing SR1 "soon"(tm)
