Windows 10: 200 Processes in Task Manager? W10 Pro V. 2004

Opened Task Manager just now and noticed Firefox was eating up almost 2GB with 2 tabs open which was infuriating enough, then come to find out, Windows has over 200 processes running in the background?

Now I have around 15-20 applications installed, nothing that would even be running in the background besides Adobe and Logitech, which I completely understand, I even uninstalled a bunch of Dell preinstall junk to really clear up the mess earlier this month, and still apparently hundreds of processes are running but seemingly taking up very little power/ram.

So I guess it's not a bad thing if 200 processes run and do no impact in performance, but why so many? Can I do a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro and wipe ALL preinstalled garbage?

I also plan to upgrade to a 1TB NVME SSD, so should I just do a clean install or clone the SSD over to the new one?

Blue Screen after upgraded to V.2004

Thank you for your reply.

• I could not find the *dump files, I don't think I enable it,
• I will work on the MSinfo file and the Specc files when I have more time in hand.

Questions:-

• you're suggesting that I should install the V.2004 and let it crash (if it'll crash)?
• since there is no .dump file exist (or I couldn't find one), the troubleshooting still good just using the MSinfo and the Specc files that reflects my current system state (V.1909)?

Task Master Processes

I understand your concern about disk usage on Task Manager. This issue might occur due to applications or services running at the startup on the computer. Bad sectors on the hard drive or outdated and incompatible drivers might also cause such issues.

Try the below and check if it helps.

Step 1: As a basic troubleshooting steps, I suggest you to search for the process that consumes more space and try to end the process by right clicking on it and clicking
End task.

Step 2: Run the System maintenance troubleshooter.

System Maintenance troubleshooter finds and clean up unused files and shortcuts and performs maintenance tasks.

• Press Windows key and type Troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting and hit Enter.
• Click on View all in the left pane of the window.
• Select System Maintenance.
• Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.
