Windows 10: 2004 Update Messing with Bluetooth.

Initially, the Update itself caused my Bluetooth device to stop working. Since then, setting my machine to Hibernate reproduces the same, or similar, problem.


At first I tried Remove device, then Add device, but the device while set to discover mode was not detected. More recently, my machine registers Bluetooth as turned off. In that case, Remove device is unavailable.





I've tried looking for driver updates. There's none available for the mouse itself and the latest Bluetooth driver for this machine from Dell is dated 2014. I'm not sure if there's another driver update I should be looking for. Generally speaking, I have no idea what this is about:





It turns out that a simple Restart fixes the problem, but that is defeating the purpose of Hibernate. Eh?

Any thoughts/suggestions would be much appreciated. TIA


P.S.:

It now comes to my attention that it is "Bluetooth" turned off. I thought it meant the mouse was. duh

So, I'm wondering if it's possible to just turn it back on manually. Something for me to test another time...

No Bluetooth after 2004 Update

Hi, since updating to the 2004 version of W 10, my Bluetooth has gone on the blink......I have uninstalled it, then re-installed, still won't work.....unpaired my phone, now it won't even re -pair...I know it's not the phone as it works on other laptop....any suggestions ?

Ok, and from your Update History which is the update that led to the problem?

(Check driver updates as well as your Windows Update History, in particular your bluetooth driver- when was that updated?)

As the last Windows update was presumably this one

there's just one reference to Bluetooth there, asking when it will be fixed to which the reply is 'patience'.

I should therefore ask if you started experiencing this problem as soon as you did the big upgrade to build 2004, and to confirm you were in fact running Win 10 before that with no problems.

No Bluetooth after 2004 Update

Hi, some Bluetooth issues are known with 2004:
Known and Resolved issues for Windows 10 May 2020 Update version 2004

You laptop -Inspiron 1545- could be as old as 2004... if so, there is absolutely no guarantee whatsoever that even if one build of Win 10 works the next will not give you a headache.

You can try comparing the version of the driver with that you last used successfully, or that of the last one available for your laptop.
