Windows 10: 2004 Update Questions

I keep failing the 2004 update on the 2nd boot at 75%. If I try an upgrade, after checking to see if the hardware is compatible and that there is enough drive space it immediately starts verifying the download, instead of downloading a new copy. I tried it from a bootable install flash drive and the same thing. This looks like its using an old build that's already on the drive. I've run "Clean Up System Files" and deleted a "Windows 10 Upgrade" folder. Is there another location that the 2004 upgrade is stored?

FWIW this has failed with an old desktop and now a new desktop, different motherboard, different CPU, different video (tried it with the Intel CPU Video and with the RX5500XT Video Card) so that should eliminate hardware (Insider versions work with old and new hardware). I did reuse the system drive from the old system but I uninstalled (with Revo Uninstaller) old hardware drivers and support files.

At first I was getting a message that my system wasn't compatible with 2004 but there was nothing I needed to do. I would be notified by Windows update when 2004 was ready. I've got two update notices (different times) and I've tried it both times and it goes into the verifying instead of downloading, and fails on 2nd boot at 75%.
Just trying to get a handle on what's going on. A clean install is an option that I don't want to consider as I will lose some recording studio add-ons that are no longer available (ones that require an Installer, not just copy to a folder).

I had another thread about upgrading but everything suggested there was tried, including disconnecting everything except monitor and keyboard/mouse , disabling all services. DISM, SFC, etc.

Serious Updates Question

When you install a Feature Update, all Windows Updates since the release will be installed as well.

The installer tells you it's doing so.

At this time, there are multiple issues with Windows 10 2004.

I would suggest waiting a while, until the "list" gets shorter.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
