Windows 10: 2023-10 patch Tuesday KB5031356 might cause problems with EFS file sharing

Both of these computers are running Windows 10 22H2, and received the latest updates during 2023 October patch Tuesday.I have some encrypted folders I share from one computer to the other. They both use the same EFS certificate. Everything was working fine until the latest 2023 Oct updates. All of a sudden, when I tried to open or copy an encrypted file, I got a message about insufficient permissions. No problems accessing unencrypted files.I thought maybe one of the last updates caused the problem, so I uninstalled KB5031356 from both computers and rebooted them. The EFS shares started w

I did not receive all updates on "patch Tuesday" for March 14, 2023. Was this the case for anyone else?

Only one update was released for Windows 10/11 on that day, the Quality Update. The March 2023 .NET Framework Security Update hasn't been released yet. But, as far as I know, the .NET Framework security updates don't necessarily release on Patch Tuesdays.

Win 10 pro EFS Encrypting File System Problem (Dell)

I suggest you to start the Encrypting File System (EFS) Service and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• Press Windows key + R from the Keyboard.
• Type services.msc and hit Enter.
• Search for Encrypting File System (EFS) Service.
• Double click on Encrypting File System (EFS) Service and click on
  Start button.
• Click on the dropdown list and set the Startup type to
  Automatic.
