Windows 10: 21H1 Update - Unrecognised User Login Passwords & Missing User Data

I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this issue. Windows 10 21H1 Update got processed on a Dell tower PC last Wednesday (7th July). The result was an inaccessible computer as the user was not able to login with his local accounts' normal passwords. The user does not recall any interaction with the computer with respect to any Windows updates. The only solution to gain access to the computer was to reset the password of one of the remaining local accounts and change password of the other once access had been gained. The user's local master administrator account did not even appear in the accounts login list and appeared to have been removed. Having gained access to the main user account through the password reset method it was apparent that all the user's data was missing/no longer existed. In addition, all the user's applications were no longer available. It effectively appears that the computer has been wiped and reinstalled. All the user profiles that exist are those created at the date and time of the initial 21H1 update. There is no Windows.old folder. Unhiding hidden folders shows all of the following folders with modified dates of 7th July (the day the update was processed): $WinREAgentProgram FilesProgramDataRecoveryUsersWindows The password was changed on the other user account to gain access to that account and exactly the same issues were encountered. In summary, on 6th July the computer was working normally and the user had access to all his data, then on 7th July the user was unable access to the computer following the 21H1 update and access was only able to be gained today as mentioned above. Subsequently following the changes to the existing accounts and further updates the following folders have modified dates of 12th July: IntelUsers As the user has no backups of any data since 15th October last year, the only hope of recovering the missing data would appear to rest with the hidden Recovery folder, if that is indeed an option. Any advice on how best to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

No login password craziness

Brink, that was the missing step. What threw me off was in netplwiz, where it asks about password for my MS account, the user name was not the same as my MS account name. Once I entered the password (twice) I can now login without entering a password. In fact the name that was listed was not the MS account name, but a folder name. The folder is the one that shows when you click on C:\Users.

To assist you better, I would like to know whether the accounts are local account or Microsoft account. Are you trying to remove the login password?

If you are trying to remove the login password, I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• Press windows key + R to open command prompt, and type "netplwiz"
• Uncheck "user must enter user name and password to use this computer", then click "ok"
• Enter your user name and password, then click "ok"
• Restart your computer.

I would like to inform you that it is recommended to activate the password for security reasons.

added new users to htpasswd, but cant login with their creds

im just doin some testing with a local webserver. i have one user: hybrid who can login fine and has for a while. But when i added a few users: usa, can with simple passwords using:

ubuntu # htpasswd passwd can

thats works fine. But I cannot login with these users to the web page, it just asks again for a username password.
