Windows 10: 22H2 update or ISO update failed - Error 0xC1900101 - 0x20017

I get the error message after I try to update Windows to the latest version.I tried doing the update by downloading an ISO version of the OS but same result.I already checked many "solutions" they are all the same and are probably just a copy past from one source°.I tried the DISM/SFC, double checked that my Bios is set to UEFI and tmp 2.0, the "disconnect any external drive" thing... I mean I already tried what is on the internet.If you have anything new I need to check let me knowMy computer is recent so no Windows 11 requirement problem

In-place upgrade from ISO failed in SAFE_OS Phase 0xc1900101-0x20017

I'm using a mounted ISO (created using MediaCreationTool21H2) to try to do an in-place upgrade (to try to fix a slow Windows Store issue). It's failing, and SetupDiag says:

Here are some things I've done:

• windows updates
• driver updates
• sfcscan
• dism
• unplugged all hardware except keyboard/mouse
• create a new local admin account from which to try

Looking at setupact.log, I can't see anything that stands out.

Any suggestions?

 

Anniversary update fails with error 0xC1900101 - 0x20017

I followed the directions C: > Windows > Panther and found the two text files, setuperr dated 9-15-2016 on a failed attempt





Setuperr below, appears ATI drivers are listed at the top. Maybe this is what the troubleshooting page refers to, I'm not uninstalling them. W10 should replace them with MS working drivers if the W10 AU can't handle them. It could be the problem, but it wasn't a problem the first RTM or the November update.

Since the AU is now considered the "paid" version for those that didn't take advantage of the free upgrade W10 may be picky about an install. I'm not doing a clean install, if W10 is now the new "running as a service OS" it should be able to update itself without issue. Meaning any computer running any version of W10 without problems should upgrade without problems.

A couple of suggestions:

1) run chkdsk c: before you upgrade

2) turn off AV package

3) Uninstall onedrive before attempting upgrade, and reinstall afterward - does not affect online stored data (use free up space option as well). This assumes you are using files on demand.

4) delete all restore points.
