2nd CPU not showing on Task Manager / Resource Monitor

Hello.I'm new to this site and I hope I can get some help. I was running CyberLink PowerDirector 16 64-bit and noticed to much lag on a 4K video during playback.I checked the Task Manager TM and I noticed that the CPU was running +95%. When looking at the detail I noticed that only one of the 2 of my CPU's is showing in the TM, all 6 cores working.I checked the Resource Monitor RM and it only shows CPU 0 to 5.I checked the Device Manager and all 12 cores are there. Intel Xeon E5645 @ 2.44GHz. 6 cores per CPUI checked the BIOS and the 2 CPUs are there too.Why can't I use bo

CPU @ 100% in Task Manager.. but in error

Sailindawg, did Resource Monitor show some silly high % use, in the millions/billions? Does the 'Details' tab in Task Manager show 'System Idle Process' normal? It does sound like you have the same issue, I've still not fixed it. You might be lucky and a BIOS update works for you as it has others, I'm stuck on the B2 stepping which means I can't upgrade the BIOS *Sad

MrPumpkin, what process does task manager say is using the most CPU usage?

    Task Manager shows single CPU

Windows 7 used to show a CPU graph for each processor in Task Manager, but 10 by default shows just one graph for overall CPU utilisation. You can show separate CPU graphs in Task Manager if you wish, right-click on the graph and select Change graph to > Logical processors.

Resource Monitor shows CPU busy but not in list of processes or services

I have 64-bit Windows 10 Pro Creators Update, version 1703 running on an HP Envy with an i7 processor and 8Gb RAM.

I have been having problems with Windows responding very slowly, but when I look in Task Manager, nothing seems to be using the CPU. However, when I look in Resource Monitor, the overall CPU graph is almost maxing out, and CPU 7 in particular is very active,
typically appearing to reach 50%. However, when I sort the lists of processes and services, none of them are running on CPU 7. Is it possible for a virus to monopolise one or more cores and to exclude itself from reporting in Task Manager and Resource Monitor?
