Windows 10: 2nd hard drive not showing win 10

I'm trying to take a sata hard drive (with existing data) from an older win 10 machine and add it as a second drive on newer win 10 machine (also sata).

First time I've done it. I've watched YT videos on how to configure the 2nd drive but it's based on the 2nd drive showing in disk management.

But the 2nd drive isn't showing. I checked the cables, tried a new sata socket but still no luck. since the cables only go on one way, it must be something else.

Suggestions?

My 2nd hard drive

I'm trying to understand why I can not format my 2nd hard drive. My main one has win 10 on it and it took changing the new drive to a letter for it to show up. Now that it shows up I cant play the games on it. So I figured i'd format it and start ALL over.
And I cant do that. Why?

 

2nd Drive Files not Showing in Quick search

Hi all,

Background: I'm running Windows 10, anniversary update; with two physical drives, each also shown as a logical volume (C and D).

Issue: When searching from the Start menu, files on my C drive show up, however the ones on D do not.

Troubleshooting I have done so far:

• Verify that the 2nd Drive (D) has indexing enabled
• Verify that the folders on the drive also have indexing enabled
• Rebuild index
• The files DO appear when searching the 2nd drive via Windows Explorer, but NOT through the start search

Is this a known issue, and what steps can I take to resolve this?

 

second hard drive not showing

had problem with new laptop being stuck in repair mode, reinstalled windows 10 now 2nd hard drive does not show in device manager or disk mgmt.

no way to reassign drive letter, dive not showing. Restarted computer and went to boot menu or bios menu. Drive is listed there. When windows boots up, it disappears.
